Off into the sunset

Hi everyone - it's SA's son here.

A couple of days ago SA was out on his bike, riding along with a friend in the sunshine. They were chatting and laughing (probably property related!) when he had a heart attack. It was instant and we have been told he did not suffer, just cycled off into the sunset.

He leaves behind his wife, who he met when he was 20 and she was 18. They spent 40 blissfully happy years together and raised myself and my younger brother in a loving home full of laughter. You would know her better as 'S' (I would like to think that the Trainee T was not based on me or my brother, but you never know!).

We are absolutely distraught as you can imagine, feel free to leave any comments you like (I know it's the internet but please keep it nice!) and I will feed them back to my Mum.

Any regular followers should know that he really enjoyed interacting with you all - both good natured and serious debate. I know he is sitting somewhere now, just so irritated that he had to leave when there was so much more to do, so many more sarcastic tweets to send.

As it's an anonymous blog, if you would like to do anything practical please feel free to make a donation to either Macmillan or the British Heart Foundation in his memory.

The last message he sent to us on our family WhatsApp chat was simply 'laugh loudly' (I was at a fairly empty stand up comedy night). I think that's as good advice as any.

Secret Agent, signing out.

  1. What a sad day. I loved SA's blog & our regular interactions. I will miss him terribly. Love to his family at this terrible time, most especially to S - who we now charmingly discover was Mrs SA. That - at least - puts a smile on my face.

  3. Wow, so very sorry to hear your sad news. This blog has brought me many many years of giggles and fantasies about "S" I feel quite devastated even though I didnt know him. May he rest in peace, and thank you for all the laughs. P.S. I shall miss hearing about the other staff members.

  4. Sorry to hear that - as one of the HousePriceCrash crowd we may have not been his favourite people but I always regarded him as one of the good ones. Some of his insights were very helpful for me when I had to deal with a probate sale. Condolences to you and his family.

  5. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your father's writing has kept me frequently amused for many years, first in hard copy in the Sunday Times, then on the blog. I shall miss his posts. Thinking of you all.

I've been following this blog for years. My condolences to SA's family and friends. Brings home how brief life is. Amazing SA won't be with us for the next property crash. RIP.

Thank you for letting us know of your sad news. I have found myself surprisingly upset hearing that, concerning someone that I never knew in real life, but then I have in a sense over the 11 years since I encountered your dad's blog when off work seriously ill, and his blog helped me to laugh and recover. Working with property I appreciated the issues he faced everyday and blogged about with his particular humour.

My condolences to you and the family

Very sorry for your loss. Your father's blog has been a quiet pleasure, a voice of reason wrapped up within an amusing anecdote for many a year. Thank you for the smiles. J

In memory of a bloke that was respected by those weary of the world's shits, but still able to inform us to keep our chin up!

    God bless and goodnight.

  17. I hope this isn't some poor-taste hack (well, if it means it's not true, I hope it is!), but assuming it is true, I'm so sorry. I've been a follower for several years and had a lot of laughs and learning. My sympathies to the family.
